Spark Young Writers
Emily is the Programme Manager for Children and Young People at Writing West Midlands, the region's Writer Development Agency.
Each year, she programs and manages over 240 workshops for young people aged 8-18 as part of the Spark Young Writers Programme - the biggest creative writing programme of its kind in the UK.
She works with professional writers from across the wider region and coordinates a team of volunteers to deliver high-quality, fun, and inspiring sessions for young writers.
With 24 groups for both juniors and teens, including three online groups, the programme offers a welcoming space for young people to explore their creativeity and let their imaginations run free. Spark Young Writers also publishes two online magazine and a printed anthology each year, offering young writers the chance to get their first publishing credit.
The 2026 programme marks the biggest year to date.
