Our Freedom: Then & Now

As part of her poetry residency in Knowle, Solihull (June - Nov 2025), Emily collected local stories and reflections on the theme of freedom, inspiring poems created with and for the community which were then collated into a professional zine and presented in an exhibition in Knowle.

 

Part of a UK-wide project from Future Arts Centres, funded by Arts Council England, the project marked VE Day’s 80th anniversary. Emily visited local venues and community groups, popping up on her vintage typewriter and creating live poetry on demand for over 200 individuals.

Emily's poetry went on to inspire an original song written and produced by Chris Passey and Tom William.
